Planning ~ In operation so page being updated at present
Summary
The
plan is to take the train to Parkstone, Bournemouth and from there walk along
the south coast path to Weymouth which is 43miles in real money or 69 kilometers if I want to make it sound further.
Will
be able to stay at Ben’s place in Weymouth when we get there (hopefully if Ben's cats let us in :-)) and then return on train.
The
aim is to do it over 5 days which is an easy 8 miles a day, but we will allow 7
days although all going well I suspect we could do it in 4 days.
Dog
friendly B&Bs was going to be our overnight stays but that was going to
work out expensive and there is not a B&B anywhere near middle of walk, so
we will rough it and camp out... somewhere :-). This will also allow flexibility to call off or
abort if weather was to be against us. Also we can go at our own pace as we wont have to be anywhere at
any particular time or day, which would be the case with B&Bs.
Intention
is to do this before seeing shoulder specialist on 25th June if I
can get time off. Update on the dates is that looks like we are go for between 15th and 21st of June. Probably leaving on 15th.
So
here's the route.
[Update]
Just as a caveat we will be travelling as slow or fast as the slowest of us. If that means we can only travel 3 miles a day so be it, we will get as far as we can and call for International rescue to pick us up. Personally I think once Arnie gets in the country side Ill have trouble stopping him and itll be me that needs the rests.

Equipment
There are certain items of equipment that will be required, small backpacking tent, backpack, sleeping bag etc list and links below. Some items may already have or can make do with other items so list is an aide memoir.
Weight is a big consideration so it’s either small light
tent or really roughing it with a Bivvy bag and Basha.
After much consideration I’ve gone for this, if it was just
one night probably would have gone with Bivvy bag and Basha. But a small light tent that takes less than
7mins to put up is my preferred option to go for.
The Tent and the backpack are the two most important items.
